Yesterday someone threw up a pic of his first car, a Volvo 142. I had never seen one before, it reminds me a lot of the BMW 2002. Anyone well versed in older Volvo models? I've not been able to find any for sale, I can't even find a 242. Were these models available in the US? I couldn't tell after a quick glance at Wikipedia.

Back where I lived in California there was a guy down the street from my friend that drove one. Was lowered a little and had some rust, but looked pretty sweet. And if you want a 242, I've got a 242GT sitting at my parents house... Needs work on the FI system, but pretty clean overall.

I have found 2 since posting this and they are both in CA. I love the 242 as well and I would love to have one, but I haven't got a spot for a project yet. I have been badgering my building manager for another spot in our garage for a year now, nothing yet

The 100 Series sold pretty well, but it kind of gets overlooked between the more classically styled pre-box Volvos that came before it and the wildly successful 200 that came after. The 200 reused the 100's platform and body shell, so you can look at the 142 as the proto-242. They were definately sold here and are still around, but the survival rate hasn't been as good as the 240's.
